It\u2019s November. It\u2019s getting cold. The sky is low and grey and yesterday we had hail.<\/p>\n

I was sitting at my desk, going through some photographs \u2013 and I stumbled across just the thing to brighten a dull day. I thought I would share.<\/p>\n

The last couple of years, we\u2019ve escaped every summer for a few days … as Rat would say \u2026 simply mucking about in boats. Our most recent excursion was along the Thames, when it was still warm and sunny.<\/p>\n

I have decided one of the best things about boating is the unique angle it gives to everyday life.<\/p>\n

So, let me share some things I learned while boating…<\/p>\n

In South-East England, everyone gets aircraft noise.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

A Thames-side home looks like a nice place to live…<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"But<\/a>
But not all them are mansions.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"Sometimes<\/a>
Sometimes old is beautiful.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

But you don’t have to get married in an old church.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
\"There<\/a>
There are times when even swans look inelegant.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

The Rocky Horror House is real.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

On the river, you can listen to the festival music in comfort – with a shower and toilet.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n
