It's a long way up - The CN tower<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

I’m not afraid of heights \u2013 honestly I’m not. I have a healthy respect for things I might fall off \u2013 chairs, ladders, horses\u2026\u00a0\u00a0 But heights\u2026 I’m fine\u2026 ish.<\/p>\n

I’m in Toronto this week \u2013 and the city has this tower\u2026.<\/p>\n

It’s the world’s tallest tower.<\/p>\n

It’s very photogenic.<\/p>\n

There are two observation desks \u2013 the first is the flying saucer bit about two thirds of the way up. The second is that tiny little white bump \u2013 its thirty stories above the first one!<\/p>\n

That bump used to be the highest man made observation point in the world.. it\u2019s only the second highest now.<\/p>\n

Well \u2013 I had to, didn’t I?<\/p>\n

O.M.G.\u00a0 They don’t tell you when you buy the ticket that the elevator has a glass roof.<\/p>\n

And glass sides.<\/p>\n

And a glass FLOOR!!!!!<\/p>\n

I shot up 113 stories in 58 seconds\u2026 all the time watching the ground drop away beneath me. Eeek!<\/p>\n

The view from the observation deck is amazing! You can choose to stay safely inside, behind the glass \u2013 or walk out onto an open observation deck \u2013 which is enclosed with a strong looking mesh to stop anyone doing anything foolish.<\/p>\n

The next stop \u2013 for the brave or foolhardy is the sky pod \u2013 a mere 1,465 ft above the ground. That’s 147 stories. Out there \u2013 it’s all glass and even I found myself staying very close to the comfort of the solid centre core.<\/p>\n

The worst was yet to come\u2026<\/p>\n

Safely back down to the lower observation point, I discovered some sadist has installed a glass floor. Yes \u2013 GLASS FLOOR! You can stand on it and look between your feet all the way down to the ground.<\/p>\n

It really is safe - they promise...<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Now \u2013 I believe in physics. I have great faith in engineers. They say the glass floor is safe \u2013 and I believe them. I really do\u2026 but with all those children running and jumping on it , I wasn’t taking any chances. (Nervous? Me? No way!)<\/p>\n

There’s a revolving restaurant at the observation level \u2013 guess were I’m going for dinner tonight\u2026<\/p>\n
